Position Purpose: The Home Depot has an immediate opening highly qualified technical leader of others for a role as Software Engineering Manager, Financial Reporting. This position requires experience in managing highly motivated distributed teams including offshore resources, and significant experience in architecting, designing, developing, and supporting SAP BW/BPC solutions. The candidate is expected to have strong knowledge of SAP B4HANA, BW, Google BQ, and other reporting technologies with a solid understanding of Finance and with familiarity with one or more SAP components (FI, SD, PP, MM, etc.). In addition, the candidate should have at least one implementation and operational support experience. This position will be a part of the remote Financial Reporting Experience team; however, periodic travel to our Store Support Center will be required. Responsibilities: The candidate will be responsible for leading, guiding, coaching, and managing our team of highly skilled and motivated associates. The candidate will assume overall responsibility for architecting, designing, developing, and supporting business solutions leveraging SAP BW/4HANA, SAP BW 7.5, BPC 10.1 and Analysis for Office (AO). Lead the team in translating business goals into appropriate solutions while assessing the feasibility and optimization of the solution. Prepare and oversee the development of cost/benefit analysis. Cultivates and demonstrates industry-specific business process knowledge within the team and individually. Ensure the team has familiarity with relevant enterprise, business unit, and functional strategies, objectives, and plans. Proactively identify process improvements including clear and concise solution definitions. Develops proof of concepts to demonstrate proposed technical solutions, if required. Develops and maintains working relationships with a diverse group of business, functional and technical teams. Demonstrate strong communication skills, with the ability to explain complex solutions to lay persons, demonstrate smart design techniques and coaching and mentoring team members. Key Responsibilities: 30% Delivery & Execution: Collaborates and pairs with product team members (UX, engineering, and product management) to create secure, reliable, scalable software solutions Documents, reviews and ensures that all quality and change control standards are met Writes custom code or scripts to automate infrastructure, monitoring services, and test cases Works with vendors and partners for the successful implementation of critical tooling and platforms Creates meaningful dashboards, logging, alerting, and responses to ensure that issues are captured and addressed proactively Contributes to enterprise-wide tools to drive destructive testing, automation, and engineering empowerment Evaluates new technologies for adoption across the enterprise Participates in and leads review board sessions to drive consistency across the enterprise Fills in on product teams for engineers who are out of the office 10% Support & Enablement: Fields questions from engineers, product teams, or support teams Monitors tools and participates in conversations to encourage collaboration across product teams Provides application support for software running in production Acts as a technical escalation point for the engineers on the team 50% People: Provides leadership, mentoring, and coaching to Software Engineers Attracts, retains, and develops top talent to build a world class Software Engineering Team Conducts annual and mid-year reviews by reviewing individual development plans and team feedback Fosters collaboration with team members to drive consistency across product teams, and finds opportunities to expose engineers to career interests Acts as a proponent of modern software development practices Guides team members in strategy, alignment, analysis, and execution tasks within and across product teams Participates in and contributes to learning activities around modern software design and development core practices (communities of practice) 10% Learning: Learns, through reading, tutorials, and videos, new technologies and best practices being used within other technology organizations Builds relationships with technology leaders at other companies to learn best practices and elegant solutions to common problems Direct Manager/Direct Reports: Typically reports to the Software Engineer Sr. Manager, Technology Director or Sr. Director. Travel Requirements: Typically requires overnight travel 5% to 20% of the time. Physical Requirements: Most of the time is spent sitting in a comfortable position and there is frequent opportunity to move about. On rare occasions there may be a need to move or lift light articles. Working Conditions: Located in a comfortable indoor area. Any unpleasant conditions would be infrequent and not objectionable. ESSENTIAL SKILLS: Minimum Qualifications: Must be eighteen years of age or older. Must be legally permitted to work in the United States. Mastery of an object-oriented programming language (preferably Java) Must be legally permitted to work in the United States Preferred Qualifications: 10 plus years of experience in IT analyst or consulting position with knowledge and experience relating business requirements to sound technical solutions. 3-5 years of experience managing distributed teams in a software engineering context or equivalent. 7 plus years of hands-on experience working with SAP BW in business process analysis, systems analysis and design, and technical/functional solutions delivery (configuration and custom development). Experience with SAP BW 7.5/BPC 10.1 on HANA. BW/4 HANA experience is a plus. Strong knowledge of all the major business processes and associated functionality in BW associated with ECC FI, CO and PS domains. Relevant experience with S/4HANA Finance is a plus. Strong in SAP development methodologies including strong troubleshooting and issue resolutions skills. Focus will be SAP BW with a strong understanding of ECC or S/4HANA. Proven ability to lead and guide the development of complex SAP solutions. Excellent facilitation skills, including experience planning and participating in SAP blueprint and design sessions. Have been through at least 4 complete implementation cycle. Experience utilizing formal testing tools strongly desired (experience with HP ALM testing tools a plus). Experience in identifying, defining, and delivering quality business cases, project plans, staffing plans, etc. Experience with interacting with third party resources, including offshore teams. Must be self-motivated in learning new concepts and willing to share knowledge and skills with other team members. Outspoken and passionate about delivering well designed solutions that exceed business objectives and drive business success. Must have strong communication skills, with the ability to explain complex solutions and ideas. Experience in consumer retail domain preferred. B.S. strongly preferred, M.S. preferred, in Computer Science.
