Company Description We are looking for a Software Engineer to contribute to the design, development and maintenance of applications, integrations, and services within our global Stores Technology space. You’ll help with the entire lifecycle right from concept stage until delivery and post launch support. The candidate will be heavily involved in driving the stores technology strategy and roadmap at Abercrombie & Fitch. In this role, you’ll work cross-functionally with stores, digital, and omni-channel teams to execute and deliver store associate and customer omni-channel experiences. Responsibilities include technical leadership, mentoring other team members in designing software solutions, leading projects, maintaining & refactoring existing code, writing tests, and fixing bugs. What Will You Be Doing? Responsible for working on all Store Services, including an international point of sale system that is central to in-store and Omni channel business; Act as a Subject Matter Expert for applications owned and administered by the Store Services team; Responsible for application design and analysis, development of project plans, coding, testing, documentation of all code, and interfacing with customers to assist in the project process; Provide development support for international store services and applications; code, debug, and test application programs utilizing JAVA and web-based programming tools that integrate sales capture, device interaction, and web services; Interact with and tune the performance of multi-tiered application systems; technically lead complex store system projects, including estimating requirements, designing systems, and helping to develop solutions; and adapt to the use of new software and programming techniques as they are required or adapted in the IT industry; Responsible for acquiring and maintaining additional technical skills for professional development; Responsible for working with all levels of the business and the development team to establish, promote, and enforce architectural guidelines as well as assist in the implementation and the resolution of problems for existing applications and requests; Ensure work meets functionality and quality expectations within given timelines. What Do You Need To Bring? Provide development support for international store services and applications. Must be able to code, debug and test application programs utilizing Java and web-based programming tools that integrate sales capture, device interaction, and web services. Interact with and performance tune multi-tiered application systems. Technically lead complex store system projects including estimating requirements, designing systems and helping develop solutions. The candidate must be adaptive to the use of new software and programming techniques as they are required or adapted in IT. Acquire and maintain additional technical skills for professional development. Responsible for working with all levels of the business and the development team to establish, promote, and enforce architectural guidelines as well as assist in the implementation and problem resolution of existing applications and requests. Ensure work meets functionality and quality expectations within given timelines. 4-year degree in an IT related field. 3 or more years of experience in application development utilizing Java, Spring, SQL, Log4j, Web Services, and Oracle databases. Experience with Spring Boot, TDD, and CI/CD is required. Experience with Docker and Kubernetes is a plus. Experience with Reactive programming is a plus. Oracle Retail POS experience is a plus. Ability to adapt to a fast-paced international project and excel under pressure. Must be able to command the attention and respect of highly technical associates. Demonstrated track record of successful system and project implementations. Excellent organization skills and attention to detail, including the ability to prioritize and manage a variety of complex projects and activities. Strong problem solving, analysis, design and testing skills.
