Summary of Position We are seeking a dynamic and experienced Senior Manager of Software Engineering to join our team at Teladoc Health, the leading telehealth solution company revolutionizing remote physician care. In this pivotal role, you will report directly to the Director of Clinical Engineering, serving as a vital member representing Platform Services. Your primary responsibility will be to facilitate agile development of products, ensuring our engineering team operates at its highest potential. Essential Duties and Responsibilities Has accountability for a functional area(s) or location(s) with significant impact on department or business unit results. Manages activities of exempt individual contributors (typically Advanced/Expert) and/or Managers. Expected to interact with senior leadership to guide and influence key decisions that impact own area. Teaches, coaches and provides timely feedback in order to develop the skills of others and effectively deals with performance challenges. Providing leadership and growth for a team of software engineers, guiding them toward successful and timely completion of projects. Work closely with product manager and related teams to define product scope and deadlines using an agile, continuous planning process. Managing project deadlines, assigning responsibilities, and allocating resources. Creating and managing team KPIs, dashboards, and metrics for success. Cultivating a productive, strong, and happy culture within the department. Providing updates, recommendations, and advocacy to leadership on behalf of the department. Identifying opportunities for new projects and processes, then planning, collaborating, and successfully implementing. Act as the backstop on technical direction as needed. Provide technical direction in building and maintaining Healthcare Software in Azure/AWS platforms. Review and approve code changes and fixes for a team of Software Engineers Take responsibility for hiring new engineers as needed. Collaborating with Product, Design, Data, Operations, and Customer-facing teams to optimize technology and efficiency in product development, operations and infrastructure. Developing new initiatives and continuously streamline the engineering and software development processes.‹ The time spent on each responsibility reflects an estimate and is subject to change dependent on business needs. Supervisory Responsibilities Yes Qualifications Expected for Position 7+ years of progressive experience leading engineering teams, preferably in a healthcare or technology-focused organization. Full Stack Development Experience in one or more of the following languages: Java, .NET, Ruby, C# Experience with cloud based technologies (Azure, AWS, GCP) An industry experienced specialist and manager with advanced knowledge in a specialized field, and broad understanding of related areas. Detailed understanding of polices to take ownership of resource planning and expense management. Excellent people management skills. A people- and mission-oriented management style, in an Agile team environment. Strong and varied experience working with cloud platforms, languages and frameworks. Strong experience with Software architecture and design. Strong Experience in Agile Methodology for delivering Product. Deep experience with feature development and scalable frontend development. Coaching experience, with the ability to recognize and utilize unique strengths in teammates. A passion for building rapport, solving problems, and leading decisions in a cross-functional environment. A drive to meet deadlines and achieve or exceed goals. Adaptability, creativity, and sharp focus on achieving goals in an ever-changing environment. Outstanding project management and organizational skills. Passion, collaboration, and productivity in a cross-functional team environment. Strong communication skills, for delivering recommendations and updates to upper management, with the ability to communicate succinctly, effectively explaining technical concepts to non-technical personnel. Adaptability in changing work environments, managing new priorities, new instructions, delays, or unexpected events such as production escalations.
