Position Summary: GEICOs Site Reliability Engineering is seeking an experienced Senior Engineer with a passion for building high performance, low-latency platforms, and applications. You will help drive our insurance business transformation as we redefine experiences for our customers. Position Description: Our Senior Engineer is a key member of the engineering staff working across the organization to provide a friction-less experience to our customers and maintain the highest standards of reliability and availability. The ideal candidate has broad and deep technical knowledge experience to improve applications performance, improve availability and reliability, design and evolve cloud/infrastructure architecture, and leverage engineering solutions to solve operational problems. Position Responsibilities: As a Senior Engineer, you will: Scope, design, and build scalable, resilient distributed systems Engage in cross-functional collaboration throughout the entire software lifecycle Build product definition and leverage your technical skills to drive towards the right solution Develop automated solutions to detect and proactively respond to issues impacting services Define, create, and support reusable application components/patterns from a business and technology perspective Utilize programming languages like Python, C# or other object-oriented languages, SQL, and NoSQL databases, Container Orchestration services including Docker and Kubernetes, and a variety of Azure, AWS tools and services Consistently share best practices and improve processes within and across teams Mentor other engineers Ability to support a 24×7 On-Call rotation Qualifications: Advance knowledge of at least one OOP languages such as Java, .NET, Go, Python, C++, etc Strong understanding on service level objective (SLOs) and Service level indicators (SLIs) Advanced knowledge of observability, monitoring concepts and tooling Experience debugging application related issues Experience contributing to the architecture and design (architecture, design patterns, reliability, and scaling) of new and current systems Advanced knowledge of cloud operations and administration on AWS, Azure or GCP Advance knowledge of web server technologies running on both Linux and Window OS Experience with server administration on both Linux and Windows platforms Understand open-source databases like MySQL, PostgreSQL, etc., familiar with No-SQL databases like ONgDB, Cassandra, MongoDB, Elasticsearch, etc. Experience with continuous delivery (CI/CD) and Infrastructure as Code Experience in open-source tools like GIT/Jenkin/CircleCI, and knowledge in Terraform/Ansible is a plus Have strong problem-solving skills Ability to excel in a fast-paced, startup-like environment Excellent communication skills “ needs to be able to lead projects from the front and interact with clients and sponsors on a regular basis Experience: 4+ years of professional SRE experience 3+ years of experience with architecture and design 3+ years of experience with one of the public cloud AWS, GCP, Azure, or hybrid data center 2+ years of experience in open-source frameworks Education: Bachelors degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, or equivalent education or work experience #LI-RP2 #DICE Annual Salary $72,000.00 – $185,000.00 The above annual salary range is a general guideline. Multiple factors are taken into consideration to arrive at the final hourly rate/ annual salary to be offered to the selected candidate. Factors include, but are not limited to, the scope and responsibilities of the role, the selected candidates work experience, education and training, the work location as well as market and business considerations.
